San Francisco is a popular destination all year round. As a result there are hotels, motels, B&B’s all over to accomodate the weary traveler. One of the most desirable and inexpensive spots in the city to find clean, friendly and not overly priced accomodations is out on Lombard Street in the Marina district. There are literally blocks of hotels, motels and inns lining the neighborhood. Here is a sample listing of some nice spots which offer a variety of amenities at lower than the usual rate hotels in San Francisco.

These are just a few of many which are located in the Marina District. This district is perfect for the traveler as it is conducive to our MUNI (municipal railway system) buses which from this area can get you to all the major tourist attractions in a heartbeat. One block down on Chestnut Street is a lively little neighborhood consisting of shops, boutiques and some great little restaurants geared towards making your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. You are blocks away from the “crookedest” part of Lombard Street, The Marina Green, Fort Mason Park, Ghirardelli Square and the Wharf all of which are in walking distance from this area. On the corner of Chestnut and Laguna you can catch the #28 bus which will take you to the Golden Gate Bridge in a matter of about 10 minutes. You can also catch the #30 Stockton bus across the street which will take you to the wharf, Chinatown and Union Square. Going down Chestnut Street the opposite way you can catch the #30 to the Palace Of Fine Arts. As you can see this area is the perfect spot to get you all over the City.
It is also extremely safe at all hours. I worked not far from this area for years and had to take the bus home late in the evening and never had a problem.
So, for inexpensive accomodations in a great neighborhood not far from all the major attractions, this is the place to be. Enjoy!
